Cerebrospinal Fluid or CSF

Cerebrospinal Fluid or CSF is a clear fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, and acts as a shock absorber to prevent injury to them. CSF is manufactured in the ventricles of the brain. CSF contains nutrients and proteins necessary for the nourishment and normal function of the brain; it also carries away waste products from surrounding tissues. CSF flows between the cranium (skull) and spine to compensate for changes in intracranial blood volume. This keeps the pressure steady inside the skull.
